Where the wind comes right behind the rain

(and the crippling ice storm right behind the wind)

Let's all think good thoughts about our favorite Oklahoman (sorry, Chuck Norris) who braved a terrible storm. Speaking of brave, she's staying in a hotel with her whole family! We love you, Jen. Come home soon!

Opening this page was somehow like walking in on my own funeral.

Power is back for all the homes in my family, but still many others without power. We're very lucky. Send your happy energy to those who didn't fare as well. Many are still without power and many in rural areas who have wells are without water.

Kim was already shocked enough to hear I actually have friends here who drive trucks, I will now enjoy telling her I know people whose water comes from wells.

...but knowing that Craig ranks me above fellow Oklahoman Sylvan Goldman, inventor of the shopping cart? Now that's the silver lining to this storm.

Oh! And last night as I couldn't sleep in the hotel (four grown women cannot and should not share one room), I lay on the floor thinking of a twist on the status game for English class!

What if, instead of the playing cards, you handed out index cards with names of characters (for any work you're reading) and had the students interact playing status?

Forgive me if someone's mentioned this before, but it's something I plan to use if my school ever gets power back and we have class!

Jen!

We did that twist on the status game at the intensive. We had characters from almost every Shakespeare play in the room (48 people) all batteling for who had more status than whom. It was hilarious!

Well bless your heart, as we say. The habit of having bad weather refugees in the house is worn hard around here, and even if you LIKE these people, it still sucks having them all up in your grill for a week or so...

Great idea with the character cards. Will use it. This week. We're scrambling to keep them busy.

(And for the past seventeen years, until I moved "in town" last summer, my water was from a well. I miss it. Water from the Tennessee River isn't nearly as good as that from an undergtound spring.)

Alessandra, if you'll go back and put your email address on the page with your profile, Sharon will be able to email you there.

Generally, it's not a good idea to post email addresses on the internet. Putting your address on your profile will help Sharon reach you.

Good luck!
